K. A. Kendall 7-20-4 Corona Cigar Review

Category : Cigar Reviews

Kurt Kendall revived an old, historic brand name, 7-20-4. Originally named for R.G. Sullivan’s original factory at 724 Elm Street, the brand lasted from 1875 through 1963 in Manchester. From what I have read, he bought the building and the rights to this cigar.

It is a smooth, full-medium bodied cigar available in 5 sizes and featuring a blend from multiple countries.

Handmade in Honduras

Wrapper: Brazilian Mata Fina
Binder: Costa Rica
Filler: Nicaragua, Honduras, Mexico, Columbia

I smoked the Corona size which is a 5 5/8 X 46. It has a rugged pigtail which looks similar to an apple stem.

Wrapper and Construction: The wrapper on these are a very dark brown with a slight reddish tint. It has very small visible veins and has a sheen to it. Not so much oily, but just smooth. The construction is great with no soft spots in the cigar.

Pre-light: After clipping the end I took a puff and got some coffee and dark chocolate flavors. There was no apparent spice on the pre-light either. The draw was effortless as I drew through it.

Burn: This thing burnt very well with no major issues. I did need to do a few small touch ups to keep it even. The draw was just about perfect! The ash held on decently with no flaking to it .

Flavors: This is not a real powerhouse when it comes to the flavors, BUT, it does have some really good smooth flavors. I picked up some black licorice around the middle. There was a lot of earth tones present in this cigar along with a subtle spice in the background. Also present were hints of leather black pepper and cedar. It had an almost “dry” flavor, similar to a wine would, but it was a good dry.

Strength: I would have to say this is a medium strength cigar all the way!

Burn Time: 1 hour 40 minutes

Drink: Lemon Water

Date Smoked: 11.15.09

I liked the colour of the cigar, It really looks like a dark chocolate stick. Its looks are so good and descent but it really gives the flavor of coffee and chocolate, cool so i think i should try one….!
