About Us

We have two of us doing the reviews as of now! Here is a little bit about us!

My Name is John B. You may know me as JJ, or John51277.  I am an avid cigar smoker and have been a member of the cigar community for some years now. I run a private cigar forum called CigarHops. It is a rowdy group of guys who like to BS and talk cigars. We are all about having a great time and sometimes we even discuss cigar related material. I started this blog as a place to keep my reviews of cigars I smoke and share with the general public what I know. I also have been homebrewing beer for about 5 years now. I am a huge hophead and love my IPAs. I usually have about 2-5 brews going at any given time. On my “off” weekends I usually take the boat out to the Gulf and do some flats fishing. Im not sure how much time and effort I will be able to allocate toward the blog, but Im sure it will move along. I am originally from the St. Louis area. I currently live in Florida and am married to my beautiful wife Jaime. We have two great kids who are still toddlers. My day job as a Finance Manager keeps me pretty busy. Some days are slow and it gives me time to post stuff like this!

My name Is Chad, AKA Red. Welcome to the SB! I plan on spending most of my time here reviewing beers and doing beer and cigar combos. For me a cigar without a beer is just not complete LOL.
I try to stay on top of all the new beers hitting the shelves and be the first one to get em, There are so many beers out there now that I love and they still continue to amaze me with all the new creations.
With beer I normally dig the limited release / small batch / seasonal brews. I do have my handful of staple year rounds as well. Mostly IPA’s but have been known to venture off that course. When it comes to craft beer, I’ll try everything once.

When it comes to cigars, I like the big, bold, spicy cigars from Nicaragua, corojo wrappers..black/white/green/habanero pepper, full on spice!! Nothing compliments a great cigar better than a great brew.

Hope you enjoy the posts,
Red

IPA’s are my favorite as well. I have some recomendations for some great IPA’s, but I live on the west coast, so I don’t know if you can get them where you live; assuming you don’t live on the west coast.
Anything Ballast Point is great. They have the best hopsy beers in my opinion. Russian river beers have great ipa’s as well. Try the Plyne the younger (or elder) if you can get you hands on it.
If you are down, I dig trading. I have many good friends that are brewers for companies, so I can get some pretty great beers.
